VDC Design Level 1-2 A VDC (Virtual Design and Construction) Designer is a professional who specializes in using technology and digital tools to create virtual models and simulations for construction projects.
The job involves leveraging Building Information Modeling (BIM) software and other digital platforms to design, analyze, and visualize construction projects before they are built.
Key
Responsibilities:
Responsible for detailing installation drawings for electrical systems.
Printing and preparing install drawings.
Assist in pulling together any needs for the installation team.
Resolving minor model clashes and issues with stakeholders and the VDC Manager.
Participate in weekly staff meetings to confirm that the team is meeting deadlines, optimizing capacity and maintaining quality.
Adhere to the departmental code of ethics while exemplifying high levels of professionalism and leadership that appropriately represent UEC.
BIM Software Proficiency:
Strong proficiency in using Building Information Modeling (BIM) software, such as Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, or similar tools.
Attention to Detail:
Keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy in virtual models and designs.
Collaboration Skills:
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
Communication Skills:
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey ideas and information clearly.
Problem-Solving/Clash Detection:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially in the context of clash detection and resolution within virtual models.
Construction Sequencing:
Developing virtual construction sequences to simulate and optimize the construction process, allowing for better planning and resource allocation.
Basic Visualization Skills:
Ability to create basic visualizations and renderings to communicate design concepts effectively.
Data Management:
Understanding of data management principles within BIM environments, including file organization and version control.
Learning Agility:
Willingness and ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and tools as the field of VDC evolves.
Qualifications:
Good understanding of some or all of these design softwares (Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD).
Ability to maintain patience and understanding in a stress-filled environment.
Good communication skills.
High School diploma is a must, Associate Degree is a plus or 1-3 years of equivalent design experience.

The work environment is typically an office setting.
The noise level is generally moderate, and the work may require occasional evening or weekend hours.
